Easy ways to add character to your home (Part 1)

Pick up some pointers from these homeowners who managed to add arresting details into their spaces without it being overwhelming. While it may get tricky with creative elements such as bold design statements and bright colors, don't shy away from it if that's what expresses your personality. After all, your home is a space to rest the mind and body.

(These tips will come in handy when you're planning your home's interior design. If you want to add some low-cost final touches or are doing a simple revamp)

Have one dedicated corner for trinkets

Instead of dressing up the walls around the stairway with a gallery of photographs, opt for a bold 70’s-inspired wallpaper to spotlight this often forgotten transient area!

Make use of the kitchen backsplash

The kitchen backsplash is a great space to experiment with some funky tile patterns.

And the ceiling!

The bookshelf's red grids continue on to the ceiling, and this unusual but simple trick helps provide character to the home.

Dress up the mundane

(Interior design by Free Space Intent)

Something as mundane as your door number can be used to change the entire tone of your home. This stylishly designed unit number communicates the homeowner’s aesthetic taste perfectly, and leaves a good first impression on all their guests as well.

Basic shapes make a whole lot of difference

                                                   (Interior design by Whiz Concepts)

Sometimes, the most fundamental of shapes can create the biggest impact. And when you have such a strong imagery for a small room, refrain from other outstanding design elements for the rest of the space in order to prevent it from appearing over-decorated.
