Habitat to make a new Home in London with Flagship Store

Between 2008 and 2011 Habitat posted losses of £88m, so when the home furnishings retailer fell into administration in June 2011, it was undoubtedly sad for customers of the 47 year-old company, but probably not a surprise to analysts.
  
But Home Retail group believed in the homewards specialist, and kept its spirit alive with concession in Argos and Home base stores. Now Habitat is beginning to gain momentum, having today unveiled the first phase of its new flagship store design on London’s Rotten ham Court Road, as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment project.

Studio McGee is a design team whose projects always wow me. Their recent design of this gorgeous Pacific Palisades home was no exception. It reflects their signature bright clean aesthetic, and has a coastal prep east coast meets west coast vibe. I love the mainly blue and white palette, the attention to detail throughout, and of course their use of the classic Leopard Velvet pillows in the living room to add a pop of pattern.

It was love at first sight. “I had been working in the world of interiors for a while,” says stylist, on-air expert for The Marilyn Denis Show and homeowner Tara Ballantyne of finding her muse. “But when I arrived in Norway, I thought, ‘This is it! This is my style.’” Tara lived there on and off for three years while her husband, Paul, played professional hockey. And although the couple returned to Canada nearly five years ago, in terms of style, Tara never really left.

It feels like yesterday I had just grown marital and was still honestly new to selling furniture at what was then, my parents' home living furniture store. I was so excited to add a black leather Natuzzi couch, loveseat, and chair to my living room, and kept envisioning lounging on them with a good book; whether or not they would actually fit totally flew past me.
